Rawhide has been a constant favorite dog chew for years, and it’s no wonder why. Rawhide is made from a dehydrated cow skin so it’s pretty tasty to dogs! Unfortunately, it can be pretty gross. When chewed, the rawhide gets soggy and soft, and could pose a choking risk if your dog swallows a big enough piece. If your dog will be chewing on rawhide, make sure you keep an eye on him and the changing shape of the chew. Your dog shouldn’t be able to fit it completely in his mouth, and once it can fit in his mouth, switch out the chew for a new one.
