The Chow Chow originated in China, where it had been known as Lang Gou (wolfhound) and Xiong Gou (Bear dog). It is known that this breed has existed for 2,000 years, but could be even greater. Some specialists say that race was the effect of a cross between the Tibetan Mastiff and the Samoyed, although other experts say the Chow Chow is one of the founding races of similar strains, Keeshonds and the Samoyed dogs.

Chow Chow features
The Chow Chow is a sturdy dog, standing can measure between 50cm and 43cm and weigh between 34kg and 22kg. The head is large and held high, has some almond eyes and tiny ears that are constantly vertical. The heads tail is carried on the rear and is extremely feathered. This strain can have an internal very thick and dense and a layer of smooth or rough hair. The variety of rough hair have an abundant ruff round the head and neck. While soft layer have the , tough, dense hair that is shortest without ruff. The colours in both varieties may vary between crimson, black, blue, cinnamon and cream.
